Course Description Overview
Adobe® Photoshop® 2020: Part 1 focuses on some of the basic features of Photoshop so that the student can navigate the environment and use Photoshop tools to work with photographic images. In addition, the orientation to Adobe® Bridge and organization of files in Bridge is covered. Although Photoshop is used by a variety of professionals, from photographers to designers to videographers, Photoshop Part 1 will focus mainly on the photography component. The illustration and animation techniques are covered in subsequent levels of Photoshop.
This course is a great component of your preparation for the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 exam.
This course will prepare you to use the most common basic features of Adobe Photoshop. In this course, you will:
- Identify the components and capabilities of Photoshop.
- Create basic images.
- Manage selections and layers.
- Modify and repair images, and manage color.
- Refine images by adjusting layers, using camera raw, and applying advanced image refinement.
- Import, export, organize, and save files.
- Microsoft® Windows® October 2018 update (64-bit) version 1809 or later
- Adobe® Photoshop® 2020 (You might also see this version referred to as the November 2019 release or version 21.0.)
- Adobe® Bridge
- If necessary, software for viewing the course slides (instructor machine only)
In November 2019, Adobe updated Photoshop to the 2020 Release. This book is based on version 2020, and will refer to the software as Photoshop 2020.
This course was created and keyed using Windows 10.
For this course, you will need one computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum hardware configurations:
- Intel® or AMD processor with 64-bit support*; 2 GHz or faster processor
- 2 gigabyte (GB) RAM (8 is recommended)
- 3.1 GB available hard disk space and additional free space required during installation
- Graphics card with 2 GB of dedicated video RAM (NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 or equivalent; NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1660 or Quadro® T1000 is recommended)
- 1,280 x 800 (at 100% scale factor) resolution monitor with 16-bit color and megabyte (MB) or more of dedicated VRAM; 2 GB is recommended
- OpenGL 2.0-capable system
- Internet connection and registration necessary for required software activation, membership validation, and access to online services
- Keyboard and mouse (or other pointing device)
- Projection system to display the instructor's computer screen
