Welcome to the PRINCE2®: Foundation 6th Edition course. Whether you are a seasoned Project Manager, have only a few years of project management experience, or are just beginning your career, this course can be a great help for you. Demonstrating best practices in project management—both on the job and through professional certification—is crucial for competing in today's fast-paced and highly technical workplace. In this course, you will apply the generally recognized practices of project management acknowledged by PRINCE2®. This course will also serve to prepare you for the PRINCE2® Foundation examination.

  • Begin to apply the method, tailoring it to your project's needs.
Target Student:

This course is designed for those seeking to achieve the PRINCE2® Foundation certificate, which is an important and valuable qualification, demonstrating increasingly higher levels of competence. This level aims to measure whether a candidate could act as an informed member of a project management team on a project using the PRINCE2® method, within an environment supporting PRINCE2®. To this end they need to show they understand the principles and terminology of the method. It is also the starting point of providing a higher-level qualification.


This course is governed by the PRINCE2® Examination Syllabus, which details the topics which must be covered by courses accredited to provide training and prepare candidates for the examinations in PRINCE2®.


You may well be very concerned about the examination(s), but you will get some practice before the real thing. The main purpose of this training is to give you knowledge and ideas to help you to do your job better. The examination result merely contributes towards demonstrating that you can be efficient and effective in your role.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with project management concepts and some working experience with project management are required. Experience with a specific project management software tool is not required. Basic computing skills and some experience using Microsoft® Office is desirable but not required.


Students must complete pre-work before class. The necessary files can be downloaded from the CHOICE platform Files tab and is saved under the Pre-course Work folder within the data files.


During this class, students should have the Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® 6th Edition manual available to them. This manual can be purchased from the AXELOS website at https://www.axelos.com/store/.


Course-specific Technical Requirements Software:
  • Microsoft® Windows® 10 or 8.1.
  • Microsoft® Office 2016 or 2013.
  • Any PDF reader software.
Course-specific Technical Requirements Hardware:

For this course, you will need one computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum hardware configurations:

  • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (×86) or 64-bit (×64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • Keyboard and mouse (or other pointing device)
  • 1024 × 768 resolution monitor recommended
  • Network cards and cabling for local network access
  • Internet access (contact your local network administrator)
  • Projection system to display the instructor's computer screen
