Using Microsoft® Windows® 11 (with Copilot)
In this course, you will perform basic work-related tasks using the Windows 11 operating system. You will:
- Navigate in Windows 11 and use Copilot.
- Use locally installed and cloud-based Windows 11 apps.
- Use the Edge browser and Copilot in Edge.
- Manage files and folders.
- Configure the Windows 11 environment.
- Secure your Windows 11 computer.
- Windows 11 version 23H2, Home or Professional
- If necessary, software for viewing the course slides. (Instructor machine only.)
NOTE: When this course was developed, Microsoft rolled out access to Copilot inconsistently. We found that the most reliable way of acquiring Copilot was to perform a fresh installation of Windows 11 23H2.
For this course, you will need one computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum hardware configurations:
- Sufficient processor speed, RAM, and storage space for good system performance when running Windows 11, version 23H2.
NOTE: To determine whether the processor is supported in Windows 11, refer to the Windows 11 row of the table on the following page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/windows-processor-requirements .
- Mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
- Graphics card that is compatible with DirectX 12 or later, with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
- Bootable USB drive of at least 8 GB, for performing a fresh install of Windows 11 if you are not performing a cloud-based system refresh.
- High-speed, stable Internet connection.
- A blank USB drive for each student (For optional activity "Managing Removable Storage Devices".)
- For the instructor's computer, a method to project and/or share the screen as needed for local and remote class participants.
Optional Hardware:
For the optional Teams meeting activity and using Accessibility features, you will need:
- Web camera
- Microphone
- Speakers
